REGENERATIVE FARMING   It's called regenerative because it literally regenerates the soil which makes it healthier and produces safe, nutrient dense food without the addition of chemicals and other harmful practices. With regenerative practices farm animals are treated humanely, fed non GMO food, and given no antibiotics or hormones. No till is used. Carbon is captured and builds up throughout the process in the soil. The soil accepts more rainwater eliminating runoff and erosion. It enhances eco-systems
CSA - also called Farm Shares   Community supported agriculture, basically a community of people who pledge support to a farm which provides mutual benefits and risks. The farm delivers a box of seasonal produce regularly throughout the season.Â
ECO- SYSTEM Â A biological community of interactive organisms and their physical environment.
GMO Â A genetically modified organism. Â Â Â A GMO is produced when a person in a lab inserts new DNA into an organism such as a plant, animal, or microorganism. This can disrupt the biodiversity of the soil and cause antibiotic resistance, toxicity, allergenicity, and more. Â It can cause damage to the gut of humans and animals for instance when glyphosate is present in the GMO.Â
FOOD CO-OP Â Â A food cooperative is a food distribution outlet organized as a cooperative rather than a public or private company. The members usually make decisions regarding production and distribution. The purpose is to realize the economic, cultural and social needs of the cooperative's members as well as of the community.
NO TILL Â Is when there's no plowing so the soil isn't disturbed which greatly reduces erosion and disruption of the microbiology beneath the soil.
MYCORRHIZAL NETWORK Â Â Â An underground network in forests and other plant communities, created by the hyphae of mycorrhizal fungi joining the plant roots. It connects individual plants together. It gets broken when plowing is used which damages the eco-system.
PASTURED MEAT AND EGGS. Â Â Meat from cows, sheep, pigs, goats, and fowl that have been raised on pastures and grazed like animals in the wild where they move on from one area to another so as not to destroy the land. Â When several different farm animals are rotated on fields they keep the pastures healthy and form a symbiotic relationship. The animals live a more natural and humane life. The food they provide is more nutritionally dense.( The alternative to this is at factory farms where cows are crowded into filthy stockyards and pigs and fowl are grown in small enclosures and fed GMO's, pesticide and herbicide laden grains, and given antibiotics and hormones.)
PERMACULTURE Â An agricultural system or method of growing crops within a natural ecosystem such as a forest or meadow
